Review: Nearly Departed in Deadwood

Nearly Departed in Deadwood
Nearly Departed in Deadwood by Ann Charles

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First I have to admit this one set on my Kindle app for a long time, I got it as a freebie from amazon and thought if its free it can't be that good. Oh my goodness was I wrong. Not only was this an awesome read, I had to go and buy the other two books in the series. This book kept me captivated, entertained and on edge. I have to say it is one of the best reads I've read in a long time.

Ann Charles was able to make Violet Parker the main character/heroine into some one so real that at times I forgot she was just a made up character and not one of my friends that I was hearing about their week. Her love life is a mess, but she has two, well three if you count the horny old codger that she befriends after he shoves his shot gun in her face, potential beaus, Wolfgang and Doc. And while this isn't your traditional love triangle it does add the romance into the story.

The mystery of who is kidnapping the little girls was woven into her everyday life, so much so that it was almost like if it was going on in real life. You see or hear about something on the news and if it effects you the way it did Vi you dig deeper into it. However, Vi is soon deeper into the who done it then she ever imagined, or wanted.

This is definitely going in my must read again files, and I would recommend it for anyone who wants a decent read that has a touch of romance, mystery, comedy and the paranormal.
