Review: Jaded

Jaded
Jaded by Anne Calhoun

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.

I liked the book, I didn't love it. The author is a talented writer, make no mistake about that. However, the hero and heroine feel short for me. The male lead Lucas was one of those wham bam thank you ma'am, screw her and get dressed to leave types. And Alana just had little things about her that got on my nerves at times. It is not a bad book, if we could do half stars I would give it a 3.5. In fact I might read it again later to see if it grows on me more. I have had that happen, when reading a book, if I go back and reread sometimes it is better the second time.

If you want a summer read with some smexing, and romance that isn't to heavy this is for you.

Review: Cold Sight

Cold Sight
Cold Sight by Leslie Parrish

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book blew me away, it had a little bit of a slow start then whew it took off. It is gritty, be warned some might not be able to handle it. However, there wasn't a lot of detail on what the victims go through, just what is there might be to much for some. The romance was hot, sweet and while fast it was still on the believable side. I can't wait to read more in this series!

Review: A Werewolf in Manhattan

A Werewolf in Manhattan
A Werewolf in Manhattan by Vicki Lewis Thompson

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While this book was ok, it dragged in many places. In complete opposition to the slow story the ending, or the coming together of the pair with the I love yous was like I love you, ok the end of the book. It felt rushed. While I love VLT's books this one I had so much problems with the pace of it that I almost abandoned it a few times. I might check out the next in the series to see if it gets better. I haven't decided yet.

Review: Frost Burned

Frost Burned
Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mercy is back on track in Frost Burned. This story grips you and keeps you reading till you get no sleep until it is finished. I loved getting more insight into Adam, who I just adore. Also some of our old favorites are back after being missing for a book (or two in some cases). The dynamic from the previous books has returned after the oddness of River Marked and we pick up just as she is getting free from the injuries that happened in that book.

I can't wait for the next book in this series and I keep hoping against hope that Ms. Briggs will add another book to the Alpha and Omega series or give Bran a book of his own. I just love Bran.

Review: Dead People

Dead People
Dead People by Edie Ramer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Emotional, funny, witty and all around awesome. I truly hope Edie Ramer continues this series. I was moved to tears and outright laughter many times. It was one of those books that you just didn't want to end because it quickly became like an old friend/favorite in just the first few pages. I highly recommend it if you can handle a little angst, and a little romance tossed in with your ghost stories.

Review: The Renfield Syndrome

The Renfield Syndrome
The Renfield Syndrome by J.A. Saare

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I can't begin to express my disappointment with this book. While the 1st seemed to avoid the overly cliched love triangle this one jumps right in it. Also be warned there is talk and scenes of rape in this one, so if you have triggers here is your warning. I'm hoping the next book fixes the mess that Saare has made of Rhiannon's story if not I'm not sure I can continue to read. I hate when you get characters that you like and what seems to be a unique storyline and boom the author drops the ball.
